about
Decussation II is the second installment in a no-pressure series where I will be investigating sound masses, microtonality, spectralism and similar concepts related to the texture and colour of sound. Where part I was in large parts algorithmically composed guided by the Golden Ratio, part II is more relaxed in a way.
Simplistic synths manipulated by random pitch offsets, random envelope delays and gentle ring modulation form repeating cascades of microtonal chords, and a sample of vinyl crackling starts out as a supplier of additional warmth and intimacy, but as the piece progresses it begins to poison the clean synths, resulting in a slow, sinister disintegration of the established sound palette.
